Kimberly-Clark: Kleenex - why are tissues sized for gender, not purpose?

“give us sneeze sized, first-day-of-cold sized, sore-nose sized and tear sized…” – quoting a friend.
take a tip/hint from the tampon/pad industry. tissues can be made so much more interesting and useful… and honed, for their purposes.

nice, very interesting. I would love to hear the specifics on what different types would be like? any thoughts?

well, for first-day-of-cold sized… i know the theory about sheets of paper not being able to be folded more than 7 times, but is this the same with tissues? the first blow is always the most wasteful. think about it: you use the whole surface, then fold. then blow again, then fold. so, let’s say, you blow your nose 7 times (or would that be 6?) on the same tissue. how much of that tissue could still TECHNICALLY be used?! …maybe the tissues shouldn’t be square?! :O
as for tear-sized… how about making the tissue layering thicker in the middle and thinner on the edges, instead of being 4-ply all the way through? the tissue is normally scrunched to wipe tears, anyway. why waste material on the edge? let’s not forget all that snot that comes out when you’re crying, too. something to think in conjunction with the cold-sized one?!
still thinking…
