New BP Advertisement Ignores Reality

Flag As Inappropriatefinancegood financegood about 1 year ago about BP

There is a new BP commercial (can be found here) that is either completely bold or completely foolish. I am leaning towards the former. The commercial ignores the realities of BP’s problems. While oil is spewing out of busted pipes near a wildlife preserve, BP is acting like their main goal should be to make gas stations fun. Kind of ridiculous.

This strikes me as an attempt at smoke and mirrors and disinformation during a time where the company should be more humble.

I don’t understand the purpose of your post. What’s the point? Should BP create an advertisement showing oil spewing out of a busted pipeline? I think that would be bad for business. It’s a stupid commercial, I’ll agree with you there. Ignoring reality? Companies don’t tend to advertise or publicize bad news and if you expect it to happen soon, I think you’ll be waiting a long time.

I think a post with a link to an article about the busted pipeline detailing any negligence on BP’s part and the environmental repercussions would have been more effective than pointing out that BP put out a silly ad.

No, they shouldn’t create an ad that shows a busted pipeline. But it’s also a little insensitive to put an ad out about making gas stations “more fun” at this time. It is not “business as usual” when 6,000 barrels of oil are spilling near wildlife preserves.

In my view, this is significant because they are trying to buy goodwill instead of earning it by their actions and safety measures. That is what I wanted to call attention too.

That said, if you think articles about a busted pipeline would be more impactful, go ahead and suggest one and we can all read it.

Thank you for your worthless two sentence summary. Your entire blog/website is worthless auto-generated RSS spam with perhaps one or two lines of ‘analysis’. It is garbage like this that is filling up the internet.
