I have worked for Walmart for almost two years. I attended the PSP retreat and yes, I believe that if we (associates) get behind this project it will be a world changing event. We are the the largest company in the world, with 1.3 million associates. WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD, for the better and leave our children a legacy to be proud of . We have been recycling for at least the last two years, but now we’re kicking it in to high gear. We will make a better life for our children and future generations. I make a challenge to everyone to choose your own personal sustainability project to work on, whether it be recycling, eating better, quit smoking, exercise, what ever you can do to make the yourself and the earth a better and healthier place for everyone.

Hmm, why am I suspicious?
submitted by DrFitz about 1 year ago
I guess this pretty much has to be a net social plus. I don’t know much about the programs specifics. But I wonder if it’s as much about PR and a more subtle way of bringing down healthcare costs for employees. Not that that’s a bad thing, of course. But I can’t help being reminded of the PR fiasco when human resources communications got out that they were trying to figure out how to hire only people who wouldn’t get sick. It was the nature of the indicators of future health risks that got them into trouble about that. This doesn’t sound like it’s at all the same thing, but the two get linked in my mind anyway as the possible real motivation for the program.

I work at walmart as well. What this project is trying to do is cut the already and just keep climbing prices of fuel and materials. It’s using it’s big name to stand up and yell at people to stop wasting things that can so easily be reused. It’s getting people to work in groups, helping everyone else down the line. I feel it will be a good investment for our future.
I am a PSP Captain Store # 5160

I have worked at Walmart for two years. I was chosen to attend the PSP Retreat, and take on the role of Captain in our store. This is the most worthwhile project that I have ever been involved in. My other seven PSP Captains and I have embraced PSP and are educating our associates, managers, as well as our customers. Good things are happening..weight is being lost, exercise is a daily word, eating healthier, recycling, conserving energy, walking, biking, reducing or quitting smoking, our associates helping others, community interaction etc. it’s the new WM Buzz! More and more people are talking about global warming, and all the changes happening around us. Many are committing to band together, to help in some insignificant way that will surely impact the our future significantly. Walmart is taking on a PSP (Pesonal Sustainability Project) of zero waste in our stores, this endeavor is exciting to us because all the excessive waste we have witnessed before…is becoming no waste…reduce , recycle, & reuse. We are now reaching out to others in need, and not throwing everything away, but GIVING to those that are in our community. Never before have I been involved in a positive project of this magnitude. It will change lives and bring awareness, pausing one to think about personal, and environmental goals. “Better than any New Years Resolution ever.” It’s something that is catching on and bringing great communication, where before silence and confusion separated us from our opinions of policies that were questionable in our eyes. We can all be involved and believe in something that is the greatest sustaining project ever. I too attended a retreat…it opened my eyes, literally blew me away, and it has persaonally changed my family, and our thinking with so many others too. So what is your PSP? Think about it, write it down, commit to it….It will make you a happy person.

PSP ROCKS!!!
submitted by elecchick05 10 months ago
Hi, I have worked @ Wal*mart for 8 years 7 months and counting!!! I love my company and when I heard about the PSP program I was so excited. I have joined the PSP Team and now I am the co-head captain. I have alot on my plate with the safety team and I am the supervisor of electronics so I needed the extra support to make sure our team strived for success. We haven’t had the strongest start but we are working hard to get to where we need to be. I was very excited when we recieved the october challenge package. We have had a tough time getting our fellow associates involved so we decided that we were going to do something a little different that would force our managements involvement stronger. If anyone could share their stories with me I would love to talk about them at my store (#5296) in our meetings!! Share and let PSP grow stronger!!
