What ProgressiveKid Does

This is some of what PK does for the environment and for the community:
1. We organized and sponsored (and participated in of course) an ivy pull on Earth Day (instead of selling things at the local Earth Day fair). We liberated more than 100 trees, including old-growth trees, from invasive ivy (article # 2 on http://www.progressivekid.com/press.aspx).
2. We have created a nonprofit organization to increase the effectiveness of school, library, and community efforts by kids to combat and deal with climate change. It just started but you can read about it here: http://www.earthkidsorganized.org.
3. We support with donations and “percentage of product profits” numerous organizations that are helping our planet including Conservation NW, West Sound Wildlife Shelter, Blue Ocean Institute, Music for All Foundation, and Trees for the Future.
4. We created and run Kids’ Rock, a noncommercial site (http://www.progressivekid.com/kidsrock) for kids to help them develop self-awareness and explore consumerism and climate change.
5. We developed a lead-free lunchsack for kids (because the ubiquitous nylon ones had lead). Read about it here: http://www.cehca.org/lunchboxes.htm.
6. We’re writing and publishing through our own press (Green Goat Books) a book on climate for kids and for use in classrooms. We hope to have it out by the end of the summer.
We will update this story frequently so stay posted!
