BP can dump more pollutants into Lake Michigan

Flag As Inappropriaterod rod about 1 year ago about BP

BP is now allowed to dump up to “54 percent more ammonia and 35 percent more sludge” into Lake Michigan. Although the company is still meeting federal pollution regulations, this activity will have an environmental impact that may mark the beginning of things to come.

BP’s new extraction process is dirtier and results in additional pollutants. These extra pollutants can now be released into Lake Michigan legally. New processes shouldn’t necessarily translate into more known pollutants.
