Woman suffers from chemical burns from sandals purchased at Walmart

about 1 year ago about Wal-Mart
A Florida woman purchased some flip flops from Walmart, only to find that they chemically burned her feet. She’s tried to contact Walmart at their headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, to inform them of the sandals, but they did little to appease her and replied “contact the manufacturer in China.”
The injured woman (a former Walmart employee) has photographed her feet during the 2 weeks she wore the sandals, and posted them on her website. The images are quite frightening.

Bad PR & Crisis Handling

On one hand Wal Mart sells Religious Toys, then this. NO Walmart must address this Or Lose more sales. No offense SUE Walmart or inform via online at other consumer sites. This ‘bs’ should stop. ALL retailers, all sizes. If sandels had chem on when sold & not due to cleaning store, etc then WalMart is liable. & they wonder why Wal Mart has a bad Rep.
Yikes!

My God, her feet look awful. Retailers really need to think about risks associated with sourcing from China. Walmart’s response, especially to a customer who was also a former employee, is completely appalling!
Benefit of the doubt

People jump to conclusions more often than they have alergic reactions. This reaction to the sandals could be nothing more than an alergic reaction to something in the sandal. I would think 100’s of people have bought the same sandals.

Walmart is in for a law suit on sandals
submitted by cajm 7 months ago
This is in reference to the former comment of giving Walmart the benefit of the doubt.
If you have researched using the internet, you will find there are many, many more people effected by sandals sold at walmart made in china. More will come out as the internet and email passes around. People who have had the same problem, passed it off as different allergic reactions. The commonality is they all came from the same type sandals sold in Walmart. They all had a similar reaction, depending on the amount of time the sandals were worn. Walmart definitely knows this, and by now knows the problem, but coming clean would not be in THEIR best interests, so they won’t. There should be a class action suit.
