about 1 year ago about Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart has created this company in Texas called Texas Retail Energy in order for it to buy energy wholesale from suppliers and then pump it into the stores for a savings of around 15 million a year. It’s a brilliant idea from the business side of things but one has to wonder what it will lead to..

They want to invest in windpower and are planning on build their own windmill farms. They also alluded to plans of later SELLING that power. Walmart vs Enron? No brainer. Imagine if Walmart could make renewable energy as cheap as the rest of their products. I would LOVE to see them drive coal plants out of business.
What's the argument against it?

“It’s a brilliant idea from the business side of things but one has to wonder what it will lead to..” I don’t see any negatives at all. Are we to assume it might lead to something bad because we are to assume Walmart is a bad company?
Where’s the argument?
ABG: well said.
Why the bad wrap?

First of all, the “source” for this article is a blog post, of which I can’t see any reason to consider them a reliable source. The last line “They might as well start making the turbines too, and eventually the wind itself” not only doesn’t make any sense, its sensational at best.
Google recently announced that it is installing solar panels over the roofs of its campus to do something similar. They are going to provide their own power, reducing their energy footprint, as well as selling surplus back to the grid. How are these things negative in any way? A business is doing what is in their best interest financially, as well as having a positive impact on the environment. Sounds like a win-win to me.
