Exxon helps fund counter study to United Nations climate change report

Scientists have been offered $10,000 dollars (plus expenses) to offer research countering the UN climate change report that is being released today. This offer comes from the American Enterprise Institute, an organization largely funded by Exxon Mobile. The UN report comes after years of international research and has been lauded to be a global consensus. The AEI says that this is not an effort to discount, but rather to voice a more moderated opinion. But with many Americans still believing that there is little to know hard science to back belief in Global warming, it is dangerous for American institutions to voice doubts in the name of “moderation”. Surely Exxon Mobile understands the consequences of furthering fostering doubt.

Gah. This just annoys me to no end. If I haven’t already refused to give money to this company for the Exxon-Valdez spill so many years ago, this right here would turn me off.
